Consulting Partner, Petroleum Reservoir Engineering and E&P Strategy
Houston | MS Chemical Engineering, BTech Chemical Engineering
Srini Prasad is a Petroleum Reservoir Engineering Consultant with over 40 years of upstream oil & gas industry experience, combining deep technical expertise with strategic business leadership. Before joining Orion, he held senior positions at BP, Hess, and Occidental Petroleum, where he led multi-disciplinary and multi-national teams across asset management, subsurface development, and commercial strategy. Recognized for his ability to bridge technical excellence and business value, Srini has influenced major joint venture partners including ExxonMobil, Shell, Chevron, BHP, ARCO, KOC, and Petroperu.
After retiring as the Chief Reservoir Engineer at Hess, Srini founded his own consulting practice and has supported multiple clients in maximizing the value of exploiting conventional and unconventional reservoirs. His recent work includes optimizing greenfield start-ups to shorten discovery-to-production time, applying robotic process automation to eliminate offshore well workovers (several million-dollar savings) and using machine learning (ML) to enhance waterflood recovery by up to 15%. He has also worked on selecting depleted offshore reservoirs for CO₂ storage and advancing unconventional recovery through gas injection.
Srini’s career spans diverse basins and reservoir types — from the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, Guyana, and Angola to Alaska, Kuwait, Peru, and Libya — across all phases of the asset lifecycle including exploration, development, production, and divestiture. His leadership in subsurface innovation, ML/AI & technology integration reflects Orion’s commitment to operate closer to the reservoir performance technical limits.
He holds 2 US Patents and has over 25 publications/presentations. He has a BTech in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and an MS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston.
